Rodeo Wrap Up

Rodeo Wrap Up

That’s a wrap for the 2019 Three Rivers Raider Rodeo Team! Their last rodeo for the season was at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi.

The team had a little tough luck with no one making it back to the short round on Saturday night, but we are still proud of how our teams competed throughout the year. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished eighth overall in the Region.

On the men's team, Jacob Sellers finished fifth in the bull riding, and Colby Daniell placed fifth in the saddle bronc riding. For the women’s team, Madison Steele won the Ozark Region Breakaway Roping, punching her ticket to the College National Finals Rodeo in June. This event will be held in Casper, Wyoming, where Madison will compete for a national title in the breakaway roping. As for the other team members, they will continue their hard work in the practice pen over the summer and return to Poplar Bluff in August with big ambitions for next season.

After awards were handed out and the season was officially over, Head Coach Chad Phipps had these words to say about his team: “We may not have finished the year with as many qualifiers to the College National Finals as we wanted, but we finished the year stronger than I had imagined at Christmas break. It was noticed by many that both the men’s and women’s teams showed a huge amount of progress this Spring semester. I feel good about our many returning members, as well as the new signees we will be adding to our team in the Fall. Three Rivers Rodeo is just at the beginning stages of the greatness that is yet to come!”
