Three Rivers' Sellers takes 2nd in bull riding at home rodeo

SIKESTON, Mo. — The Three Rivers men’s rodeo team finished sixth at their home event in Sikeston over the weekend with 220 points.

Jakob Sellers finished second in bull riding for the Raiders with 156 points, barely missing out on a win.

Jacob Hodges of Northwest Mississippi edged Sellers with one extra point.

After three events this season, Sellers is fourth in the region standings with 150 points, while teammates Richard Wente and Trevor Zerrusen are tied for sixth with 60 points.

The team of Blane Maxwell and Kolby Krieger took fourth in team roping with a time of 19.5 seconds. Three Rivers’ Cannon Smith teamed with Northwest Mississippi’s Cade Cowan to finish eighth in team roping in 25.8 seconds.

Maxwell and Krieger are now second in the region standings with 210 points, 50 points out of first place. Brock and Cowan are tied for seventh place with 100 points.

Colby Daniell placed eighth in steer wrestling with a time of 8.6 seconds, and is currently sixth in the region standings with 115 points.

The Three Rivers women’s team did not earn any team points in the competition.

Missouri Valley won the men’s competition with 795 points and East Mississippi won the women’s competition with 375 points.
