The Raiders got off to a fast start in their game against MAC, stretching the lead into the 20s before winning 78-65, improving their record to 15-5. They also improved to 3-0 in region play.
Johann Pautsch led the Raiders with points with 19, and he also added eight rebounds. Point guard Matt Hampton accrued 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists. In addition, Tristin Fleming added 14, and guard Drew Ward scored 11.
"We came out and played well," TRC head coach Robert Kirby said. "We set the tone and did the things that needed to be done to be a championship team. We got relaxed in the scoreboard, and that's an area we have to grow in."
Ward scored two of the first three baskets for the Raiders as they got out to a 14-11 lead. Fleming nailed a three-pointer, followed by Hampton's and-one basket. Josiah Cotto also made a long-distance three-pointer, which put the Raiders ahead 30-20. They would ultimately take a 42-31 lead into halftime.
A three from Ward put Three Rivers up by 12, and a Fleming three further stretched their advantage. The lead hit the 20-point mark midway through the second half, and while MAC had its stretches of converting baskets, the lead never dropped under double digits the rest of the way.
Despite Pautsch making his return from injury during this game, he still managed to lead the team in scoring. Kirby complimented his big man's performance.
"He had to knock off a little rust, but he made an impact on both ends, and that's what we needed from him," Kirby said. "Johann is an integral part of our team, and it was nice having him back on the court for us."
The Raiders will host Missouri State University - West Plains on Wednesday evening.
