Lady Raiders dominate against Moberly Area

Three Rivers College women's basketball Alex Wiggs was determined for his team to start 2026 in a dominant fashion against Moberly Area Community College on Wednesday evening.

Ranked number eight in the NJCAA rankings, the Lady Raiders validated the legitimacy of their ranking by pouncing on MACC early and securing a 70-32 victory.

The win improved TRC to 16-2, 1-0 while dropping MACC to 10-8,0-1.

Samiyah Jordan led Three Rivers in scoring with 17 points, followed by teammate Amelia Corasaniti's 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Ytaly Lewis, Londynn Harper, and Lynn Reith each scored 9 points for the Lady Raiders.

Wiggs was satisfied with how his team performed on both ends of the court.

"I thought it was a good second game back from break," he said. "It was a good start to region play, outside of that second quarter, we did a good job of taking advantage of tempo and making sure that we took the best shot available instead of rushing our shots."

Corasaniti and Jordan guided the offense early as the Lady Raiders sprinted out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter of play. Both teams hit a lull during the second quarter, as only 18 combined points were scored during the frame. However, the Lady Raiders still managed to take a 31-19 lead into intermission behind stingy defense and timely shotmaking.

Things really began to accelerate as the second half progressed, at least for TRC.

Numerous Lady Raiders contributed offensively in the second half, as the team blew the game open in the third quarter behind a 26-9 run in the third quarter. Reith, a redshirt sophomore guard for the Lady Raiders, nailed several three-pointers to further push the game out of hand.

Wiggs had strong praise for his team's defensive effort, output, and aggression.

"Anytime you give up only 32 points for an entire game, it's a good defensive performance," Wiggs said. "We just want to keep that defensive intensity going while continuing to take quality shots offensively."

The fourth quarter was sluggish offensively for both teams, but the Lady Raiders maintained firm control of the contest, securing a 38-point victory in their first home game of 2026. As various players on Three Rivers

Reith delved into the team's mindset when stepping on the court.

"Coach Wiggs doesn't just want us to beat teams by five or 10 points; he wants us to dominate and win by a lot," she said. "That's why we play with the intensity that we do, because we come out to dominate."

The Lady Raiders shot 39 percent from the field and 29 percent from three. Moberly Area shot only 29 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from long distance.

Wiggs desires for his team to maintain the same defensive connectivity when they go on the road Saturday to face State Fair Community College.

"They're a top team in the rankings, so we are going to have to bring that defensive intensity with us on the road and continue to pick our spots offensively and attack," Wiggs said. "For us to win, we are going to have to be at our best, because they're a really good team."
