Lady Raiders shake off slow start to beat Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind. — The Three Rivers College women's basketball team shook off a slow start as it pulled away for a 71-45 win over the Vincennes Lady Trailblazers on Wednesday.

Vincennes led 15-13 after the opening period, but the Lady Raiders used a strong second quarter to take a 10-point lead (34-24) to the locker room.

Three Rivers (9-2) extended its lead to 51-37 by the beginning of the fourth quarter, then dominated the final 10 minutes of the game to win going away.

The Lady Raiders got a strong performance from Kaleigh KT Thompson, who scored a team-high 16 points and also had 9 rebounds while adding five steals and two blocked shots. Lexi Weaver added 14 points to join her in double figures, while Emma Toombs and Laylah Reese each had eight. Reese and Kamille Brown added six rebounds apiece, while Reese had four steals and the duo of Weaver and Jasmine Davis each added two steals apiece.

Delora Pricop paced Vincennes with 17 points, while Emani Washington added 12.

Three Rivers overcame 36% shooting from the field (24-for-66), but held the Lady Trailblazers to just 35% shooting (17-for-49) for the game. TRC also outrebounded Vincennes 39-30.

The Lady Raiders are back in action Saturday afternoon when they head to John A. Logan. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
