Raiders beat Shawnee for 10th win of season

The Three Rivers College men's basketball team hosted the Shawnee Saints for a Wednesday night contest at the Libla Family Sports Complex.

Despite a few struggles, the Raiders were able to come away with a 65-55 win, improving their record to 10-3 while the Saints fall to .500 at 5-5.

Freshman guard Matt Hampton led the Raiders with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds for the game. He used his 6-foot-4 height to his advantage, grabbing all 11 of his boards on the defensive end of the floor. Demetris White, Ali Oralkan and Sikou Diagouraga also were in double figures with 10 points each.

Shawnee and Three Rivers kept pace with each other throughout the first half, but the Saints ultimately edged out the Raiders in the first half to take a 32-30 lead to the locker room.

However, the Raiders were able to get on a roll to start the second half. First, they started the second half on a 12-8 run to regain the lead at 42-40 near the 11-minute mark and seize the momentum.

The Raider crowd woke up with a dunk by Hampton, followed by a layup by Diagouraga to make it 51-44 in favor of the Raiders with eight minutes remaining.

From there, Three Rivers was able to maintain the lead and keep the Saints at bay to get into double digits in the win column for the season.

The Raiders' next game will be at John A. Logan on Saturday.
