The Three Rivers College baseball team had a double dose of highs Friday as the Raiders swept a doubleheader against State Fair at Roger Pattillo Field.
The Raiders rallied from a three-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the opener 9-8, then carried that success into the nightcap and won 9-3 to complete the sweep.
TRC (19-16) trailed 8-5 midway through the seventh inning of game one when its bats came alive.
Peyton Nelson led off the inning with a base hit, followed by a double from Brady Robertson. That set the table for Logan McIntyre, who drove both of them home with a base hit of his own to make it a one-run game at 8-7.
After Trent Buchanan hit a one out double to put runners at second and third, Dalton Rudd came through with the big base hit to score both and win the game for the Raiders.
Nelson, McIntyre, Rudd and Eli Marvin each had two hits to lead the Raiders offense, while McIntyre drove in three runs and the duo of Rudd and Marvin drove in to a piece.
Marvin also homered.
Peyton Heinley picked up the win in relief of starter Lukas Touma. Heinley allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief, striking out five.
The score was tied at 3-3 in the night cap going to the bottom of the fourth inning, but TRC's Christian Cleary scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball to make it 4-3.
The score remained 4-3 until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Raiders added a pair of insurance runs. McIntyre hit a one-out double to score Cleary and Robertson and make it 6-3.
Three Rivers then added a trio of runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Nolan Self scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-3, then McIntyre kept the rally with a two run homer, the score himself and Robertson, setting the final score.
Rudd had four hits in the nightcap, while six Raiders — Cleary, Buchanan, Marvin, McIntyre, Nelson and Robertson — each had two hits. McIntyre also drove in for runs.
Austin Gast tossed 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.
TRC is back in action Saturday afternoon when it hosts State Fair for another doubleheader to wrap up the four-game series. First pitch is set for noon.
