HILLSBORO — The Three Rivers College baseball team saw its season come to an end Friday as the sixth-seeded Raiders dropped the first two games of a best-of-three Region 16 sub-regional series to the No. 3 Jefferson Vikings.
Jeffco took the first game 12-1, then won the second 4-3.
Three Rivers ends its season with a record of 33-23.
In Friday's second game, the Raiders trailed 4-1 after seven innings, but rallied in the top of the eighth.
Eli Marvin drew a leadoff walk, then scored when Mason Krznarich's base hit was misplayed, allowing Krznarich to also end up at second. Trey Fikes then singled him home to cut the Vikings' lead to 4-3.
However, Three Rivers did not get another hit the rest of the inning, then was retired in order in the top of the ninth.
Manny Alberto had two hits in the contest to lead the Raiders, while relievers Hayden Cuthbertson and Dorian Lippens combined to toss five innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while striking out nine.
Poplar Bluff Kannon Carr got the win for Jefferson, allowing no earned runs, five hits and two walks in six innings of work while striking out six.
It was a different story in Friday's opener, as the Vikings scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back.
TRC got its lone run in the top of the fourth inning when Peyton Nelson singled and later scored on a Fikes base hit.
Nelson and Marvin each had two hits to pace the Raiders in the loss.
