Lady Raiders score 31 in sweep

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Raiders made quick work of Arkansas State with a pair of five-inning wins Sunday as they continue to sit just outside the Top 25 rankings.

Three Rivers (11-2) won 16-4 and 15-1 behind 34 total hits.

"We played pretty well. We hit well. Just jumped out on them and cruised both games," Three Rivers coach Jeff Null said. "We've been playing pretty tough teams ... so it was nice to get a little breathing room and get everyone who has been working hard a little action."

Kindi Puckett (4-1) pitched four innings in the 15-1 win and allowed four hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Abbey Gann pitched a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts.

Blair Quarles tripled and scored while Lauren Joyner was 2 for 3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.

Jennifer Morey also went 2 for 3 with three runs and one RBI while stealing three bases. She also stole two in the opener to give the leadoff hitter a team-high 13 stolen bases for the season.

Hitting behind Morey, Molly Spangler was 4 for 4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs.

Lauren Joyner was 3 for 4 with two runs, giving her five hits for the doubleheader. Sydney Walker, Zoe Bisby, Quarles and Emilie O'Dell all had two hits, as well.

Saje Kurpiela (3-0) pitched three innings in the win and allowed four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Adrienne Stucker pitched two innings in relief with three hits and two walks against and no strikeouts.

Three Rivers' only two losses were against Southwest Tennessee and fifth ranked Tyler.
