Barring a collapse, the Lady Raiders will be the top seed entering the Region XVI tournament. Three Rivers College entered the weekend with a half game lead on State Fair College in the region standings and extended that with a 75-64 win Saturday at the Bess Activity Center. "We had some great individual performances tonight," Three Rivers coach Jeff Walk said. "The kids played well tonight." The win also gives the Lady Raiders (20-4, 6-1 Region XVI) a season sweep of the Lady Roadrunners, securing the first tie-breaker between the two teams. Three Rivers needs to lose at least two of its final three region games — home vs. Jefferson and at Mineral Area and Crowder — to lose out on the No. 1 seed. The Lady Raiders clinched at least a No. 3 seed and a first round bye for the first time in nine seasons under Walk with Tuesday's win over Jefferson.
Three Rivers finished with five players in double figures in a balanced effort against State Fair (14-7, 4-2 Region XVI) on Saturday. "Who are you going to guard? It puts people into defensive positions that they are not accustomed to," Walk said. Ge'Naisha Robinson led the Lady Raiders, wearing their pink jerseys for Raider Reunion night, with 16 points on 5 for 8 shooting. Robinson was also 6 for 8 at the freethrow line as the Lady Raiders, who are shooting under 60 percent as a team on free throws, was 16 for 23 (69.6 percent). Kaylee Heggemann earned her first doubledouble for the Lady Raiders with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The freshman forward set a new collegiate high for rebounds and was one off her personal-best scoring mark. DeNayia Holes also had her first double-double as a Lady Raider with 11 points and 10 assists. She played 38 of 40 minutes against State Fair, shot 50 percent from the floor, and on 3-pointers, and was 4 for 5 at the foul line. Michael Everhart and Olivia Crane each had 10 points and sank a pair of 3s. Three Rivers jumped on the State Fair from the opening tip and put together a 13-2 run en route to a 21-8 advantage after 10 minutes. State Fair never led after that.
