Lady Raiders defeat Jefferson on the road

The Lady Raiders took control with a dominant second quarter where they outscored Jefferson 33-18.

Lakeita Chappel led Three Rivers in scoring with 13 points, but it was a balanced effort on offense. Four Lady Raiders finished in double figures and seven had at least six points.

Hailee Erickson and Alex Kohler both got 11 points and DeNayia Holmes finished with 10.

Nine different players scored in that dominant second quarter, with Chappel and Erickson both getting six. Catera Sawyers added five while Holmes and Casey Douglas both had four.

Shannyn Triplett had 17 points for Jefferson (5-15, 0-7 Region XVI) after going 15 for 16 at the foul line. Tyra Bonner made four 3-pointers and got 14 points while Izze Ringling finished with 12, half of that at the foul line. Jefferson was 31 for 41 on free throws while Three Rivers, which committed 29 fouls and had three players foul out, was 9 for 18 on free throws.

With the win, the Lady Raiders (17-10, 4-4 Region XVI) are back to .500 in Region XVI play with two games remaining. They are in fourth place and a half game behind Mineral Area, and one game behind Crowder for second place. Unbeaten and No. 6 ranked Moberly Area is holding strong as the top seed with a 7-0 record in the region.
